Today, when it comes to charities, the heart of My Baba is Billy’s Battalion, founded following the devastating loss of My Baba editor Ellie Thompson’s four-year-old son, Billy the Brave, to DIPG, a rare and aggressive childhood brain tumour. Billy died on 31st March 2024 after a five month battle with the world’s worst cancer.
Billy’s Battalion exists to honour Billy’s extraordinary courage and to drive urgent change by raising vital funds for research into Diffuse Intrinsic Pontine Glioma, while supporting families facing the unimaginable. Registered Charity No. 1213415, Billy’s Battalion is committed to funding life-saving research, raising awareness, and working towards a future where no family has to lose a child to DIPG.
