Photo Hide and Seek

If you ask parents and care givers what they think about the game hide and seek, you will most likely get a mixed response. There are those who hate the game. I’ve heard many people say they don’t like the idea of teaching children to hide. Then there are those who love it. I personally LOVE the game. EC, YC, and I love playing it together. Admittedly, when I first started playing it with them it was frustrating. They normally ended up hiding in the corner of the room I was counting in. Now it is a much more evenly matched game, although I can still beat them if I really try. Photo hide and seek is a version of the game that will, hopefully, appeal to both camps.

Make sure you follow my activities board on Pinterest for more ideas. Don’t forget to save the pin for later.

For photo hide and seek you will need:

  • A toy
  • Phone or camera

While EC and YC were at school, I hid one of EC’s teddies and then took a zoomed in photo of the hiding place. The idea is to give a hint of the hiding place without giving too much of it away.

EC and YC were very up for the game, I had warned them before they went to school that I had a new game to play with them. The rules of the game are very simple. First one to touch the teddy is the winner of the round and gets to hide it next. Surprisingly there wasn’t any fighting over that part of the game.

EC was an absolute pro at the game. He had the best hiding places, and new just how to take the perfect picture. For his first one both YC and I had to admit defeat.

This game is perfect for those moments when you are busy, say getting dinner sorted, and they are desperate to play with you. Our game went on from 5pm until I called an end to it at bedtime, obviously we paused play for dinner and baths. I can envisage this game becoming a regular game after school.
